Daniel Nehring works with pastels, an art medium that is a hybrid of painting and drawing. In his piece, “Stage,” he creates a setting that functions as a hybrid itself: an imaginary rehearsal space where one can test reality. The interior space is built with collage techniques and remains devoid of people. The elements remain in an in-between state where strange timelessness and immobility arises. Only the rampant branches growing out of the rigid wall indicates the stage’s state of neglect.
