Nastya Didenko’s work “Bad Omen” deals with the subject of destruction and the loss of objects that are overly charged with meaning. In her work, she symbolically uses plates inherited from her grandmother. In their destruction lies not only the broken porcelain, but also the connection to the person giving away the plate in shards. At the very least, this irrational thought that it could be a bad omen is immediately present and shapes the perception to a broken plate of little value. The desired intactness of these charged objects sublimates the feeling, perceived as necessary, of not allowing the irrational and destabilising grip on the self.
