In her collages, Bonnita Postma uses found photographs of people she does not know. The impersonality of this found footage gives her the freedom to detach herself from the object. To combine it freely, in order to arrive at new images, new portraits of people whose identities are not bound to origin, time or gender stereotypes. Lifted from their context and rearranged, the protagonists in her assemblages present themselves as diverse, colourful, vulnerable and thereby palatably universal.
